SAMAG (Sydney Arts Management Advisory Group), is a volunteer based organisation providing professional development seminars targeting arts organisations, arts managers, artists, tertiary students and teachers. SAMAG’s members include major arts companies such as Sydney Opera House, Belvoir, Opera Australia, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Museums & Galleries NSW and the Biennale of Sydney, along with a wide range of individual arts practitioners and managers from across the arts industry.

 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The SAMAG Committee is a voluntary body consisting of up to 13 members representing varying interests in the arts including performing arts, museums, regional arts, visual arts, sponsorship and funding bodies.

The Committee meets approximately every 4 weeks and present seminars that are held over 10 months between February and November generally on the last Monday of the month. 

Current committee members are:  

Annette Mauer (Object), Gabrielle Eade (Arts NSW), Julia Tsalis (NSW Writer’s Centre), Kevin Golding (Australia Council for the Arts), Nisa Mackie (Casula Powerhouse), Olivia Bolton (Dictionary of Australian Arts Online and visual artist), Rebecca Clarke (Playwright, Author, Performer, Marketing Specialist and Events Manager), Rebecca MacFarling (Musica Viva Australia) and Steve Miller (Steven J Miller & Co). 

 

SEMINAR TOPICS

SAMAG’s program focuses on current topics that impact the arts industry including emerging trends, sponsorship and marketing initiatives, new legislation, government funding and industry reviews.

 

SPONSORING A SEMINAR

The SAMAG Committee now invites expressions of interest from organisations wishing to reach our arts industry membership by aligning themselves with the SAMAG seminar program.  Individual seminars are available for sponsorship at a cost of $500.
